You definately have a few ways to go. One of the best flat irons uses real tourmaline gem technology which protects the hair from damage while providing intense heat to straighten - Tourmaline T3 is the product. It's not cheap but it's excellent salon quality and all the celebrity stylists use them. Another product is from Farouk's ethnic hair line which is called Deep Brilliance, and they make several flat irons in different sizes. Don't forget that no matter what flat iron you use, you have to use a heat protectant on your hair. Alberto VO5 Red Line series "Straight" and Kiehls heat protection silk groom cream and two great ones!

i dont know where you live but if you live in ersey or new york you can go to jersey city and get flat irons. (im sure they have it elsewhere)
not the ones that you plug in. they wont do sh1t.
get the ones that you put in the heating stve. thats the only thing thats gunna help your hair. and then get pressing wax. but be VERY CAREFUL! those things get very very very hot im talking 200 degress hot!

the straightners cost about 40 or 50 a piece
and the stove is 80 to 90
but once oyu buy this thing you will have it forever!

The chi hair straightener works really well. You can find it at ulta stores and you can also buy it on line from the ulta website

my straightner is from italy and it is a ceramic one and it costed me about 80 to 90 dollars so its not that bad and it works great on my hair and it lasts all day and all night too.

honestly i think trying to manipulate the honest intergredy of the grain of your hair will damage it.

think it, break it down.

i like to see more people allow their hair to do as it was meant to do.. and work with that. there's soo many that force it to do what they want and it makes things worse.

there's many styles that are never taken into account that not only would work with the natural 'element' of one's hair but also improve it in looks, feel, thickness, over all health of the hair.

i am mixed race and my locks were a mess because i did what i was told would look better.. it looked worse and my hair fell out.. now i let it go, get a cut that works and people now think i am doing what they told me to do years ago.

i stopped fighting with my hair.

in short... ironing will burn your hair up and when you put chemicals in it to iron it/ flatten it, you'll lose your hair over time.

hair doesn't want to be treated that way...

but if you find out what your hair's about.. you can do anything just work along with it not against it.

of course i just get tired of seeing rather beautiful hair (mixed or black) dissapear and the women have to wear wigs that just ain't happening...

it's horrible.. things just aren't up to par with hair either and look how far we've gotten along in other things like medicine and technology.

black hair can be beautiful i just wish so many would stop fighting it.

i'm sorry i just had to say in the long way about saying it..

don't IRON your hair or use CHEMICALS to straighten it.

maybe you can go to someone who has a speciality in the 'ethnic' hair types.. and see what they can do for you in something that isn't hard to maintain or a bother to control?

thanks, :D
