No when i went to the store to get a plant a asked about them. The lady put her finger in it and all it does is close. But you can pull your finger out.

It's not THAT slow! It's fast enough to catch a fly off-guard!!

More importantly, though, its just like a leaf. It's not hard and its not sharp. The edges of the trap have hair-like projections which are comparitively soft. Also, the force it can apply is minimal. The mechanism of closure isn't like a muscle pulling on bone, it has to do with water being moved in and out of cell layers so that they expand or contract.

I used to have one of these when I was a kid. It's a fascinating plant!

Nah it's not like the cartoon's, they close very slowly
