I suppose my all-time favorite would have to be "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg, if you are judging just by how often it gets read! I love to write, and this book always inspires me when I have a bad case of writer's block. It makes me feel like other's understand what I go through and why I need to write.

Other books that are near the top of the list are Catcher in the Rye, 1984, The Hobbit, and A People's History of the United States.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides - a modern epic, a fascinating read of three generations, and a wonderful narrative of oft-taboo subjects. It's just enchanting.
