I have a lot of fun and have been able to help some folks, but lately I am on the site for hours!

Boy howdy, do I know what you mean! (And guess what? this question has been asked before.)

So, you answer a question, which feels good (because you might be able to help, you get to show off, you get to rant). Right below your answer are more questions, at least one of which catches you eye -- another chance to rant, show off, help, or "I wonder what this question's about" or what-have-you.

Lather, rinse, repeat, and boom: It's WHAT time? Is it really that late -- ooooo, There's an interesting question....

This is the main thing for me; plus the warm fuzzies from either the asker, or a bunch of voters giving me the "Best" nod. (I mean, dang, when someone thanks you for really helping them; or says you gave a clear, insightful, well-written response -- life just don't get better.)

Notice the variety of rewards other people find here: points, interesting views, chance to ask anything, sociality. So, a lot of different kinds of people get something to suck them in. All with little or no downside.

How could it be anything BUT addictive. They ought to put up a Warning.

The reason is that it is so addictive is that it is fun and it is also full of knowlege. Everyone knows knowledge is power, but new knowlege (other peoples opinions, factual information) also provides us the ability to think outside the box, it helps us find new solutions to our problems, etc.

Everytime I get on I seem to be on longer each time and I participate more each time. I heard that the average time spent on Ebay, per logon is 45 min. I wonder what the stats are for Answers? It's got to be similar.

Because we can all learn something about others, and ourselves, whether good or bad...this is what makes it interesting, also it's how people answer, the information that may, or may not enlighten us in ways we never knew existed, it also has the added fact that were hearing from people all over the world...thats cool as well, every question we answer, i hope we all try and do to the best of our knowledge, and every question we ask, that we would expect to do the same, and we are curious to see what others opinions are, and if they may, or may not agree with us.

I feel the same way. I think it's because I am a natural helper and I can answer peoples questions without feeling I have to sugar coat anything. I love it too and find my self visiting for an hour at a time. Is this thing laced with Crack?

I don't know, but it is really addictive!
Maybe it's like any other addiction; in the beginning you're just curious, but afterwards you need to answer more and more questions!
But anyway, it's fun and nice to help people, so it's not a bad addiction I guess : )

Me too! I thought I just had a disorder or something. I don't know why this is so addictive. Maybe it the levels and the point system. I don't know if I would still be on here after I get to level 7.

Maybe it is because it is a way of sharing what we know (or think we know). I believe that the willingness to share knowledge freely has been a cornerstone of human development as a species. Because of that, we tend to get a positive feeling from (a) helping someone else, (b) we validate the time and effort that we have put into learning.

It is addictive. I enjoy answering and asking questions - It's interesting to read other people's points of views about things, and to get answers...You find out how people seem to think or react the same way!

here are the reasons according to me:
1>you can ask any kind of questions
absolutely anything and can be sure of getting some reasonable answers.
2>you need not worry about wat other people might think about yu if yu ask anything.
3>there are some really nice people who answer well
4>No fear of getting spammed or stalked
5>yu can search for some questions also and sometimes checking the answers also gives answers to yur questions.
6>this points thg and level thg are so addictive that yu want to increase yur points everytime yu login.
