you could either dip a cotton wool ball in cuticle remover and run over your stained hands and nails; or get hold of a product specifically formulated to remove fake-tan mistakes — try St Tropez Self-Tan Remover, which removes excess fake tan from both hands and face. And a light exfoliation daily in the shower will help diminish the stain as you gradually slough away the top layer of skin.

I used to use alittle diluted Meths to blend the fake tan in and I think you can buy White Spirit nowadays from your local hardware store. After you have blended in your tide marks with some White Spirit and cotton wool, rinse your hands well with warm soapy water and rub some baby oil into your hands to leave them nice and soft.

PS Remove any jewellery before applying fake tan and also before following the above. It is much better than bleach because it doesn't leave a pungent smell.

You could try using Cif Cream Cleaner - it has to be a little bit gritty to work.
