This question kind of disturbs me, as I am a mother who had a terrible time trying to breastfeed, when it was one of the things I wanted most in the world to succeed at. I spent a lot of time, money and heartache, and visited many doctors, trying to establish a normal milk supply, but in the end, only made it 10 months, and my baby was never 100 percent breast-fed, and had to be supplemented with formula.

That said, it is ultimately up to you. Just know that there are many women who wish they had the luxury of choosing not to.

Good luck, and I hope you at least try before you decide!

Yes. Some women feel uncomfortable at the thought of breastfeeding. It is actually good for you and the baby, but there is nothing wrong with not wanting to breastfeed. I've read a lot about the benefits of breastfeeding. I have 5 children 3 were breastfed and 2 were not. I am closer with my breastfed children. I am close with my non-breastfed children also. It is a matter of personal choice. There are people that would make you feel bad about not wanting to breastfeed. Do not let them. You can still be a loving and caring mother without doing it.

You don't have to breastfeed...not everyone does. It's okay, as long as you feed her something! LOL

There are plenty of nurtritious baby milk formulas out there that will be healthy for baby.

Yes.. If and only if your milk is not safe for the baby.. BUT, you must have to ensure that you're healthy enough to breastfeed your baby..that is what I call BONDING with your baby.

It is perfectly "okay" not to breast feed. It is a personal choice.

Personally, I think there isn't a difference. My sister has two children. One breastfed and the other bottle fed. Both are the same health wise and she said she doesn't feel anymore bonded or connected with the other.

I'd say...try breastfeeding, you may like it, it can't hurt right? I tried to breastfeed, I didn't like it. You maybe different.

Its definitely your choice. But!...They say that breast feeding makes the baby so much more healthier and has all the baby needs to build up a strong immune system. Most over the counter formulas don't have what breast milk naturally has, they are substitutes.

I never breast feed my children either. They are healthy teenagers now. Get good advise about what formula to give the baby. There are so many on the market now days, you don't know what nutrition is in the can.
Good luck with bub and hope all goes well.

Breastfeeding is best because it's so much better for the baby than formula. However, with my second son I didn't breast feed, and only lasted six weeks with my oldest son on breast feedings. I really do think it's up to the mother, and anyone who looks down on you for not breast feeding obviously never went through the experience. Everyone says that breastfed babies are healthier and blah blah blah, but my youngest son is actually healthier than my oldest. Good luck and congrats on your new edition :D.

In my opinion, no. If you are able to breastfeed, then you should. If the act of feeding your baby from your breast is somehow disturbing to you, then you can pump the milk and feed from a bottle. But if what I fear is true, and this is a question of vanity.....I feel only woe for this child.
