Hi
Im in minnesota so i think I can help you with this question.
I have hostas in the shade along with ferns.
In the sun I have iris, bee balm. cone flowers. lilies, daisies. black eyed susans, there are really alot that grow in our climate.
You can go one line also and they can tell you what plants grow good in our zone.
Happy gardening!
