It depends on a couple of things but primarily if you are running XP you can only run one security provider. If you have loaded the CA stuff from Yahoo it will conflict and you need to uninstall the Norton.

I think there is some confusion over the new Yahoo! toolbar. The new toolbar comes with Norton Spyware Scan, which replaces Antispy. Norton Spyware Scan only scans for spyware and, in my personal opinion, is superior to Antispy. Do not confuse Norton Spyware Scan with Norton Internet Security, which contains an antivirus, antispyware and firewall. Norton Internet Security is optional and comes with a 30 day trial.
I know many people are fond of the older Antispy. You can download the earlier version of Yahoo! toolbar with Antispy at:

But, it appears that Yahoo! will no longer provide signature updates for Antispy.

I do not think there is any going back on this. I too think using a Norton trial on the toolbar was a bad idea but you will have to live with it. If you just do not upgrade your toolbar you can still use the tool.
