How many people besides me think the show What If: The Oil Runs Out? on the Science Channel was blown way out of proportion?
Our dependence on foreign oil is going way down for four main reasons.
1.We are starting make a lot more ethanol.
2.We are starting to produce more Bio-Diesel.
3. Car and truck manufactures are making E85 vehicles now and
4. Chevron just discovered a huge oil feild off the Guld of Mexico.
The Wall Street Journal said the find could boost U.S. reserves by as much as 50 percent. I think that show was a big propaganda scare.

Necessity is the mother of invention. When oil becomes too pricey to meet the need, other emerging technologies will move to the forefront. It is sad to say, but we probably will rely on oil and continue to destroy our environment until it is financially necessary for us to reform our habits.

Yeah its scare tactics to drive oil prices up. Oil is old technology and should be phased out rapidly, Electric is much more efficient way to travel with the new lithium ion batteries it is a lot better, I have heard we will be getting plug-in hybrids soon in mass qauntities, these vehicles operate at 1 cent per mile cost if charged off the grid and have fuel back up if you get to far from home and run batteries down which you can use ethanol for that. Also you can charge from solar cells cutting your cost more. There is some prius hybrids that have been converted to lithium ion batteries and they get about 300 miles to the gallon. Also some say electric won't do it but that is false since the world land speed record is held by electric car not counting a rocket car.
