I moved to a new house recently. When i connect the cpu and monitor to the ups and switch on the power, I get an electric shock on touching the cpu case. But when I disconnect the monitor from the ups and then try the same again there is no problem . This is the first time such a trouble occurs . Please help me !

three things. Probably this is a static build up, as a result you can expect to get a shock discahrge when you touch somthing of different charge. If your equipment is not grounded it could be static build up on your equipment (which could damage it) if it is then its probably you dragging you feet on the new carpet in your house.

It is not a good thing when you get electric shock, for the for the computer that is.
make sure the area where the computer is located, is not a carpeted area.

It seems like there is a Power overflow and that is not good either.

Get an electrician or someone with experience to check the outlets.

The carpet area it is still not recomended, specially if computer is placed on the floor.

Check how many volts you use. Many computers run at a volt of 220. or maybe there was a misconnection that you did.. try to connect it to an organize way and make sure that the plug isn't with contact with water or any liquid recently... if youre cleaning the computer with the wires and everythin'... just clean it with a dry cloth... do not use liquids as cleaning agent to a pc..

You can buy an electrical outlet tester that will tell you that the circuit is WIRED wrong. Or you can hire an electrician to test and FIX it.
