Most ghosts are lost souls that either don't realize that they're dead, or don't want to leave an area, or they have what they consider unfinished business. Some are just too, how do I phrase it...? Evil? to move on and want to stay around to cause trouble. And some experts claim that some ghosts are having too much fun to leave, this applies to children mostly.
Most are harmless, a few can be provoked into violence by certain actions on the living persons part.
Just be careful not to confuse 'ghost' with 'demon' they are two totally separate and different entities.
