yes, any organic substance that decomposes next to your plant is good for it, except urea, which is just too concentrated. also I would not use protein, but any vegetable, plant stuff, would be good for it. HOWEVER I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PUTTING THE PEELS NEAR THE SURFACE. THE ROOTS OF PLANTS GROW TOWARDS THE NUTRIENTS, IF THE NUTRIENTS ARE ALL AT THE SURFACE, THE ROOTS WOULD GROW UP AND SHALLOW WHICH IS BAD FOR THE TREE IN THE LONG RUN. BUT IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR A TREE IF YOU ARE PLANTING A NEW ONE, PLACE THE PEELS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HOLE AND COVER IT WITH DIRT, PACK IT DOWN AND THAT WAY THE PEELS WILL BE MOST BENEFICIAL.

If you have lots of them, and the benefit won´t be fast; because first the peel have to dry out, the decompose and after a very long time they will become organic matter, then they can enhance the structure of the soil and release some nutrients. You have to dig them also. But if you are thinking in a long term program it is good choice, specially for trees that don´t need a lots of nutrients.

Yes, they most certainly do. It is best tho, if you make compost from the peels and other things for your plants because they are
then already broken down. If you just put fresh banana peels in there it may draw ants and other insects that could feed on your
plants. Good luck.

No it is a myth, though some claim it helps.
There is a product called "Root Booster". It will make your tree grow very fast. New trees will grow about 6 foot the first year.
Try it.

Yes, it contains lots of potassium, among other things. Potassium is the element that helps trees to flower and bear fruit.
