The Post-9/11/01 Shutdown of Government Accountability
For decades, secretive government programs have operated without any accountability to the people, and little if any to Congress, which is supposed to oversee them. These are often called black operations because information about them and even their budgets is secret, and they have usually been conducted by the military or secretive agencies such as the NSA. Since September 11th, this blanket of secrecy has spread to civilian portions of the federal government.

Throughout history every Democracy has had to give up personal freedoms in times of crisis, to preserve the existence of the government. . And yes Radical Islam is a major threat to out existence.

In the beginning of the civil war Abraham Lincoln suspend Habeas Corpus. That is a power that is only expressed to Congress in the Constitution. Lincoln disregarded the Constitution for what he saw was the good of the state.



Read "Constitutional Dictatorship" by Clinton Rossiter. He lays out why this has happened before and why it will happen again throughout any Democracy.

Seriously, as much as the news people snoop and give away secrets, and as much as those vote-mongering politicians leak stuff to the news, I doubt that such things would be secret for very long. That goes for the US of A, where the first amendment runs rampant.
