then why are we there?
And doesn't our ongoing presence in Iraq weaken our ability to defend ourselves at home and abroad in places like Iran?

Froggy - good lord!
Premptive strikes have NEVER been our policy of the govt. Iraq marked a major policy shift.
And this has nothing to do with conservative vs. liberal. That is just your knee-jerk assessment of my beliefs.

Iraq plays an excellent target and has a strategic value to the US..geographically and politically...but...Bush thought that Iraq was going to fall easily...his lack of intelligence (politically and military) lead to the current situation that the Iraqi people live today... instead of liberating a country and rebuilding it..The US just did the opposite...destroying it even further and making enemies all over...the Arab world...some people say that this terrorist want to destroy the US way of life...do these people really know exactly... how this way of life is achieved? at what cost.....I live in the US but some times a do not agree with some foreign policies...but again...this is a great country...and somehow the ability to defend ourselves here has weaken as you mention..too much foreign expending...too much..

properly, there are a number of evaluations on the difficulty first, no remember who claims that 9/11 and the war in iraq are unrelated (and that i've got by no skill heard that George Bush stated so) it won't make it actual of direction they're appropriate, with the aid of fact the two are relating to the war between islamic elementary terrorists who look for to end the liberties we savor interior the U.S. many people have faith that our on-going presence in Iraq has shifted the violent efforts to that undesirable us of a and that this is between the optimal motives there has no longer been yet another valuable strike right here there are a number of evaluations on the difficulty and thats what all of them are, evaluations no person can comprehend if the iraq war has made the u.s. safer or much less secure considering which you could no longer run the test the place you have the war and spot the way it is going after which don't have the war and spot the way it is going people, which contains presidents, ought to look on the information they have and decide what they think of is optimal and choose for it if somebody believes that obtaining out of Iraq right this moment is optimal (for the U. S. or for the iraquis or basically with the aid of fact) then they should do what they might to help in making that ensue in case you have faith that achievement interior the conflict there is the perfect danger for a extra appropriate international, then you certainly ought to help that

well, there are many opinions on the subject
first, no matter who claims that 9/11 and the war in iraq are unrelated (and I have never heard that George Bush said so) it won't make it true
of course they are related, because both are about the war between islamic fundamental terrorists who seek to end the liberties we enjoy in the U.S.
many people believe that our on-going presence in Iraq has shifted the violent efforts to that poor country and that that is one of the main reasons there has not been another successful strike here
there are many opinions on the subject
and thats what they all are, opinions
nobody can know if the iraq war has made the u.s. safer or less safe because you can't run the experiment where you have the war and see how it goes and then don't have the war and see how it goes
people, including presidents, have to look at the information they have and decide what they think is best and go for it
if somebody believes that getting out of Iraq immediately is best (for the US or for the iraquis or just because) then they should do what they can to help make that happen
if you believe that success in the struggle there is the best chance for a better world, then you should support that

According to the 9/11 commission report Saddam had no ties with Al Qaeda and had nothing to do with 9/11. They also had no WMDs, so weren't a threat to us.
We were lied to and are still being continuously lied to, but now they throw in things like we are ridding evil Saddam, and freeing the people of Iraq. Although they may be results of the war, that isn't why we went in. Not to mention many other dictatorships exist where terrorists are supported and notice no action is being taken against them.

We are still in Iraq because our congressmen and congresswomen in Washington are too scared to REQUIRE that we get out NOW. They're afraid they'll lose personal money and power.

Being a super power we can defend our own shores as well as others,& the mission in Iraq is to rid them of Sadaam Hussein & his reign of terror on his own people..Plus set up a structured government that can assure their freedom & human rights..It has been revealed that Sadaam & Ben Ladin had some social ties & no doubt they have the same terroristic views on how to achieve power in their homelands..One down one to go..USA rocks!

You're not listening, he did NOT say that. Our country's policy has always been to fight an enemy on his turf rather than on US soil. Perhaps we should all circle our wagons and wait for these fanatics to bring the war to us here at our malls, schools and parks. Liberalism sucks and someday you'll realize that.
