Probably nothing. Air time is VERY cheap... the company probably see's you as a good client since you have probably paid your bills ontime and they want to keep you as a customer. My dad pays VERY LITTLE for his cell phone. All cell phone companies want to keep you as a client because you still pay money each month on time and they bank no matter what. Air time is almost FREE.... so anything you pay is profit.

Check the small print but the reason they will offer you such great offers on renewals is largely to do with customer loyalty and customer retention. The idea is, they offer you something very cheap so that you stay with them instead of going to another network. Even if they arent making money from you, you're another number in their customer base which will attract more customers if they are popular, which brings in more money. They also hope that you go over the allocation, thus making up the £4 they are losing.

the credit of 100 is not to pay your line rental, its for use over the 25 minutes and 25 text. there might also be an expiry date on the credit. i.e 3 months or 6 months

Did you get an upgraded handset with that deal ?
I would say no, And the £100 credit is for not taking an upgrade of a new phone.
They will also be hoping you go over your allocated minutes and texts to bring in more revenue.

Tey are probably hoping that you use the phone outside or more thatn the minutes they have given you.
For example they prob have restrictions on your monthly minutes ie: Peak and off peak.
If you use the phone to make calls outside these hours they can bill you further money and your monthly bill could be double the 8 quid.

You're not missing anything. I also got a mega deal with 02 and there have been no catches. They just want you committed for another year to take you out of the market. If you're happy with the service they provide, stay with them. I've certainly had no problems ... and, no ... I don't work for 02 ha ha!
