if the person gave over their wallet and there was no harm other than the exchange would you still intervene on the victim's behalf. no guns, but maybe a small pocketknife.

This is the kind of situation where no one really knows what they would do until faced with it. It is very easy to think I would do this or that, but reality can make things seem very different from imagination.

If the person gave over their wallet, what is there to be done? The action has already happened and the mugger would run away. Too late to do anything.
If there was a gun pointed at the victim, I would try to not be noticed and I would call the police.
If there was a weapon available to me, I would try to do something... Say, a bat or some sort of object I could throw...

I would certainly help!! I would first try to talk him out of action and warn him that I will hurt him if he doesnt give the person back their belongings! I would then quickly remove the weapon from his hand & subdue him to the ground while I have the victim call 911 for assitance!! I would simply put him in a hold on the floor with the weight of my body positioned on the back of him with my knees! I have helped a victim in similar situation before...I hate low-lifes who victimize people and use fear against them!

I'd do what I could depending on the situation. If a gun were involved it would be getting on my cellphone, calling 911, and mentally taking notes of what the robber looked like. Then asking the mug-ee if they were OK.

If no gun were involved, I'd be yelling (dialing 911) while my husband probably would handle the physical stuff. Especially if it was a woman being mugged.

Yes I would. Did you see the
old lady on The Tonight Show
last night? A guy grabbed her
purse and she chased him
down and finally caught up
to him while he was bent
over looking in it.
She threatened to shoot him
(NO GUN!) he apologized,
she said 'why' he said hard luck -
out of work - desperate -
so she gave him the money
in her purse and told him to
run,cause the cops were coming.
So cute. She told him if he would
have just asked her she would
have helped him, but he stole it
and that is not right.

I would beat the mugger up! I'm 11 years old and a girl. This huge kid was beating up my best friend who is a boy so i pulled him of my friend and tied him to the flag pole! Then me and my friend walked to my house and sprayed each other with the hose!!! Hehe! It was fun. But i'm not that strong, i'm not one of those creepy jock girls. I do play volleyball! I'm AWESOME! My friend goes to all my games and I had just gotten out of P.E. so I was full of energy and the kid never messed with my friend again, or many other kids for that matter. I made it clear that if i caught hime he'd be tied to te flag pole but stripped down to his underpants that time and he would have a broken nose to match his purple blanket. I am good at finding that kinda stuff out.

Yes I would, nobody should be made to hand over their wallet. And with a pocket knife it's still considered a mugging.

I'd squirt the ***** with pepper spray. I don't go anywhere without it. People can duck, so you have to hold the button down for at least a couple of seconds. If they duck once, then they're off balance and can't duck again immediately. Then you can nail 'em, but if you only give one little squirt and then let off, they can regain their balance and be ready to duck again, or attack.

I hope I'm never in that position. It would definitely show you what you're made of. Although, if I had a conceal and carry permit, it would make it a lot easier to take action to halt such an altercation.

No weapon period, I'd grab them up around the throat with my own hand and demand they hand it back and then I'd yank 'em face forward to connect their nose with my rising knee while telling them what a piece of sorry S*** they are... but no gun, no knife, not even a 2 x 4, I'd just be that pissed off!
