Logitech is the best bang for the buck! I have used many different cams and none of them have the features logitech provides! Everything from low light capabilities to motion detection! You wont find these on other cams!
XPman aint got a clue! Your system will do fine!

I got a twenty dollar web cam from Office Max and it does the trick nicely. However the installation disc came with a load of stuff I never used, so I ended up uninstalling it, and using a custom install to get only what I needed. If you're up to it, when installing the software, use the custom install option, and save some hard drive space. Also, be aware that if someone is able to slip certain malware onto your computer, and if your computer is booted up, they can watch you through your web cam. Be sure to run regular scans for spyware and viruses!

The only difference I can see between an expensive webcam and an inexepensive cam, is pixels. A better cam will give you a clearer picture. They're all simple to install. Just load the disk and plug it in.

I think u should know that
A cam, homecam, or webcam is a video camera, usually attached directly to a computer, whose current or latest image is requestable from a Web site. A live cam is one that is continually providing new images that are transmitted in rapid succession or, in some cases, in streaming video. Sites with live cams sometimes imbed them as Java applets in Web pages. Cams have caught on; there are now (we estimate) several thousand sites with cams

I just bought a Panasonic BL-C30 Wireless IP camera, and it is fantastic. If you have a wireless router, you can just plug it into the mains supply anywhere in range and control pan, tilt and zoom remotely via a built-in webpage.
It may be overkill for a webcam, but it is highly recommended.

depends what client your using it with.
Skype for example can be very fickle with types of cams...best is to check the website of the client your going to use for your video output
eg:
http://accessories.skype.com/section?p=4580&secid=39161&et_cid=16&et_lid=2339&et_sub=eng_uk_webcam
(you probably can find these recommended camera's cheaper on the high street)
Go for the best quality to get a decent picture.
Logitech are good cameras in my personal experience

You mean to assert you're keen to desecrate that digicam's particularly warm Leica lens and use it for webcam accountability? I wager you Panasonic by no ability made it an determination. Webcams are much less high priced. bypass out and purchase one to your pc. The Lumix is yours to delight in on my own.
