because they faked it the first time

Where in the world do you guys come up with the idea it was faked. If I tell my next door neighbor a "secret" an tell them not to tell anyone, in 24 hours everyone on the street and city council knows. There were more than 10,000 people directly involved with the moon flights--how can you believe that 10,000 people would all stay silent for 40 years? That's just silly.

Anyway, to answer the question we never did "explore" the moon. We went there a day or two at a time, set up some experiments and got some rocks to bring home. If we really explored the moon who knows what we may find. Minerals, precious metals, water?? If we go back they plan on staying a while so some of these questions could be answered.

500 years ago someone might have asked to Balboa, or Hudson, etc., why go back to the western hemisphere. Chris has already been there and just found a bunch of Indians but not much that could be useful to Europe.

Although I do believe the video footage "shot on the moon" was faked, perhaps due to technical problems, I believe the landing was real... I think that going to the moon at this point would be more or less a pointless endeavor unless, we were to go with the intention of colonization or at least setting up a permanent moon station (as a start perhaps). Given current technological constraints this would be more or less impossible at the moment but who knows what the future holds...
The moon is only about 500k miles away

Because Bush wants to beat the Chinese to the Moon - I guess no one told him we already did that!

Seriously, the Moon makes a great jumping off point for the rest of the solar system. If we want to send people to other planets (Mars) we'd better be able to at least go to the Moon first. That way we can test our technology and human endurance before making the big leap to Mars. In the Apollo era, we went to the Moon to prove that we could (and to beat the russians). Now we're going to stay.
