There is the lens, the part of the eye that the image is focused through. If that is damaged, the image will be blury, too small, or too large.
There is the cornea, the outer layer of the eye membrane, it that is amaged it can cause dark patches in the images, loss of sensitivity (or increased sensitivity) to light.
there is the retina, that part of the eye where the images fall and are registered before being sent to the brain. Damage there can result in a lack of depth perception, off center images, right, left imbalance, and even blindness.
There you go

Close the eye lids and anyone is temporarily blind. Penetration of Cornea releases tension in eye collapsing the eye much like a baloon is punctured and this causes blindness. If the angle between Iris and Cornea gets narrowed it causes Closed angle glaucoma and blindness. Cataract of the Lens causes severe defect of vision corrected by surgery.Hemorrhage into Vitreous causes blindness.Retinal hemorrhages, exudates, degeneration and detachments cause severe blindness.Rods and cones are different receptors in retina. Rods located in periphery aid night vison and cones day vision.. Retinitis pigmentosa is deposition of pigment in periphery of Retina and causes Night blindness. Genetic disorders of Retina cause Color blindness. Degeneration of Macula the most sensitive part of Retina causes near total blindness. Inflammation and degeneration of Optic nerve cause blindness.
