how do you change your user i.d but not to a new messanger just the i.d name?

Go to your Yahoo profile and get another id that way & when you use YIM you can choose which ID you want to use.
The only way I know how to get to your profile is to go to Yahoo's Member Directory.
Maybe someone else could help you better than I can, lol.
