No probably not. So they will either raise their prices, find another line of work or have people who can afford it take their jobs. People who depend on them may then have to make other arrangements for their care. But remember this the price of gas, adjusted for inflation, is still lower than the price of gas during the shortage of the Carter administration.

They only make about $10 and change per hour. This would not include someone who does PC (personal care). Most of the clients are elderly. As to affording gas prices, if you can get to your job via public transportation, the gas price question is moot. Otherwise, don't take a position too far away from where you live.

Not as much as they should. .. It all depends on where you live, too. In Ohio, the average is around $9-12 an hour. When I moved to Alabama, I wouldn't even apply because the base rate was only around $6!! Sure they pay for mileage, but it wasn't enough to cover what the gas prices are today.

Not enough to write home about. Gas prices have gone down here. I actually filled my tank for $22 yesterday. Whooohoooo
