Lolita was actually taken from the European fashion movement during the Victorian Era. Modern Lolita, however, takes this Victorian style and made it appear as a cute fashion statement or gothic. Today the Lolita style is very well known among fans in and outside of Japan.
*Types of lolita*
*Angelic Lolita. Wear's soft pastels, (such as white, blue, pink, or flower patterns)
~Costumes contain frills, ribbons, and lace. (Often like a dolls dress or a young childs)
~Decoration: elaborate head pieces covered with lace & ribbons, they carry bags, teddy bears, and umbrellas and wear Knee high stockings and Mary Jane shoes.
*"EGL" or Elegant Gothic Lolita. An EGL dresses the same like an Angelic lolita. However they wear darker colors.
*"EGA" or An Elegant Gothic Aristocrat.
~Costumes are mostly black, long skirts, high-collared long sleeve blouses, thier clothes often have many layers of ruffles and sometimes with unstitched edges, they wear high platform boots and long trench coats.
~Decoration: crosses, top hats, & chains.
*British Aristocrat ("male" version of an EGL and EGA)
~Costumes are mostly black or brown color. They wear neckties, long trench coats, top hats, jacket and pant suits. The majority carry canes, some wear capes.
~Decoration: gothic jewelry, skull rings, lots of crosses and chains, dark make-up.
*Kodona, (male version of an Angelic Lolita)
~Costume contains short suits or jacket and pant suits, suspenders, knee high socks, little bow ties or just regular ties, boots, and ruffled blouses. They pretty much look like British schoolboys.
*Neogothic, really doesn't have a specific look. They resemble an industrial or techno style. Ripped clothing unsowed or just looking totally crazy with wires held together with safety pins and lots of chains with mix matching accessories.
*Fruits wear bright colors. They mix designer and used clothing into a unique style. There are different styles in Fruit. Punk, cyber, lolita, and anime. Fruits decorate with lots of stuffed toys, plastic jewelry, dyed hair, and other accessories.
