big yes.
only the intellectually lazy, brainwashed, and willfully ignorant right-winger robots are unaware that the world hates us now because of our foreign policy.
america has become amurdica absurdica. we have witnessed the end of the first american republic already. only her death throes remain ahead.

US foreign policy after WWII up until the 90s was primarily focused on the defeat, containment, roll back of Communism. Now, Communism was an international movement and promised to "bury" US style capitalism. On the ground, the Cold War led to many fronts, and secret wars between the intelligence services of the US and the west, and those countries allied with the Soviets. How did the world respond to this battle agianst communism?
Well it is clear that many believe that the Cold War was really a front, that gave the US the excuse to expand its might and influence in order to protect resources, markets and US corporate interests. I beleive to some degree that this is true, but I also believe that many other countries do the same thing...the Soviet Union expanded its reach and essentially colonized eastern Europe and central Asia in order to protect its interests and to not necessarily creat a Communist revolution.
Now, since the 90s, the US has been reformulating its foreign policy and essentially it has found another Cold War to fight. The facts surrounding the Iraq invasion-fixing the intelligence, lying about WMDs, the Downing Street Memo, etc. certainly suggest that there was an agenda to mobilize the entire military and once again prepare the country for a prolonged "crisis." The Bushies will contend that the crisis is real and that a new Cold War is necessary to defeat "terrorism." However, it should an intelligent person a reason to pause and ask why the US seeks similar solutions to vastly different problems.
So, yes, I believe that there is any number of people who dislike the US for its war against Communism...and that includes many right here in the US. Why? Becasue they are sympathetic with the left, the goals of the left and dislike capitalism and the globalization that the US powerfully promotes.
Obviously, many in the Arab world dislike the US because it supports Israel and the existence of Israel to them is a shame and a humiliation to Islam.
But, there are plenty of others who appreciate the US and try like hell to emulate it. Many of the former soviet block countries are now staunch US allies. And many in the third world welcome the US, look to the US for solutions and welcome its help.

What is wrong with Americans, I have travelled quite a bit, covering many countries including the U.S.A. and I always found the Americans good genuine people. You have to remember, their are good and bad wherever you go.
I'm British and a born-again-Christian, therefore I will give you an honest answer. You have to look and live with the American people, which I have done, to get to know them. I also believe that you can say that about most countries. Also you have to remember, that the Red Indian is the true American and the Americans are the first to acknowledge that. We Europeans , Africans and Asians are the people who settled their and pushed the Indian out of their homes.
Did you know that if the American Red Indian and the Buffulo were left alone, they would still be thriving today. The Indians did not kill the buffulo for sport, or for greed (Hides etc.). Unfortunately, the settlers did. Also their are millions of Americans who love their British,Irish Italian etc. roots and are very proud of that. Don't judge the Americans by what you see or read in the media, or in single minded people's thoughts. Try living with them before passing judgement.

Frankly most of us just don't care that other nations don't like us. We know ourselves to be a prosperous and peace loving nation. If you mess with us we will defend ourself - the lesson we learned in WWII.
Our foreign policy since WWII has faced down the soviet block- where was everyone else when we were flying supplies into Berlin - where was the world when the USSR was putting ICBM's into Cuba
stopped the North Koreans from overrunning the peninsula and continuing on to Japan
opened up worldwide relations with China and got them admitted to the UN
Put out the seed money to rebuild Europe after WWII
Rebuilt Japan economically to even surpass the economy they had before WWII
Tried to stand in the way of Communism after the French messed it up in Viet Nam.
and regretably the US and the UK now stand alone facing down Islamic terroism - don't think for a minute that they won't come for you when they are done with us.
We are the babysitters of the world.

Absolutely correct. The US foreign policy has been we will help if we can control policy in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. A good example of this is NATO. The USA funded NATO and provided arms to protect Europe from the USSR, in exchange we expected a greater role in decision making.
You have to remember that the USA became mistrustful that European nations could coexist peacefully. With all the loans the US gave Europe to rebuild, the US felt it needed to protect these loans from another war.
Also, European media has found anti-American news sells so they glorify anti-American stories.

What specifically about our foreign policy would be troubling. The main goal of US policy is to spread freedom throughout the world. How exactly can that be a bad thing? Unless other people around do not like or want freedom.

America isn't liked for a few reasons. Most of their good PR is overshadowed by the mistakes they make, and they have made quite a few. They are looked upon as unfallable so when they mess up, it looks much worse. Also at least part of it is jealousy, some people dislike America being reputed as the greatest country in the history of the world and have a desire to knock them down.
Like any sports competition, everyone is always gunning for #1

I am not American or Muslim or Christian but I do believe that the U.S.'s foreign policy and the superior attitude of President Bush and a lot of Americans are the reasons, among others, for disliking of Americans and America. Some of my best friends are American and even they are saying they are embarrassed to say they are American, one of them told people they were from Canada when they were visiting France and asked where they were from.

There are many reasons why we are perceived not to be liked. The Liberal dominated media makes us look bad to the country and the world around us. It's also idiots like Al Gore and Michael Moore who bad mouth us while they are in other countries. But the funny thing is this is the country that made them rich. I think many countries are jealous of us because they don't have what we have. You still can't stop the flood of people coming to this country. So can you say we are really that hated? I also think some countries hate us because we are not dominated by their religion or political ideology. But the funny thing is when there is a crisis in the world who is the first country they come to when they need help? Finally, I could care less if some people don't like us. You can't please everybody.

I not sure if I go that far back. I sure we tic off alot of people now, because we always thought we could export some of our successes by exporting our ideaology.
I think our foreign policy since the Soviet Union broke up, has been less focused. Current policy seem almost intend to tic people off

Frankly, I wish there was a war that didn't include America, or America didn't help countries whose Armies were wiped out, conquered, and destroyed......wouldn't that be something to see. Your very existence on this earth is because America is here!
British! Ok, next time a dictator destroys your Army, and your soldiers are jumping into fishing boats to survive.....you might realize how important America is...or rather you Sprechen Sie Deutsch!
