Hi

You might not need to buy them at all if the college library keeps copies in which you can borrow otherwise it can get really expensive!

Once you get to college there will probably be:
a) a departmental book shop, selling second hand books
b) flyers put up by people who want to sell the books they've finished with.

I'm basing this on experience at university. I don't know if by 'college' you mean university, sixth form college, or colleges which you go to between 18 and 21 years old which aren't uni. So my info may not be any use, and may be completely wrong (even if you are going to a university).

Ooh, and another thing which you might find useful to know: for my university course there have been about 20 recommended/theoretically essential textbooks in three years. I bought 1 of them, and got by fine.

try an add in newspaper, people may have what you need, specify book. Also if theres a better class thrift shop, you'd be surprised what you might stumble onto.

I used BigWords.com. They folded for a bit, but now they're back. I dont know if they are still a great deal but they were back in the day (97-01). Good luck!
