I have a wife who is foreign. We met while she was here on a student Visa (from Russia). I paid a lawyer $500 already and he wants another $2,500 before our INS/DHS interview. Is there a cheaper way then this, because August 13, our daughter, Allison Anna was born and I am the only one working, therefore money is extremely tight.Somebody please help!

She wants to obtain this status so that her mom will be able to visit the baby next summer. Homeland Security will deny her mother's Visa if she has not adjusted her status by then. Also, to the fella that said do I need a lawyer, the answer is yes. I don't understand this mountain of paperwork.

Sounds like a rip off and you know lawyers.. Even if you paid the $2,500, expect more to be asked for. YOu have a child now(with her) and you married her... I would just let time take over... she will become a citizen in time
