Mace Windu, along with Yoda, sensed great fear in Anankin Skywalker. Remember, fear is a path to the dark side, the shadow of greed it is. Greed makes one think only about themselves with little regard to consequences it may have on others. That is why Mace Windu, Yoda, and several others were not entirely trustful of the "Chosen One". Anakin's fear of loss, his lust for power, and his arrogance started him down the dark path.

Was Mace Windu a Sith? No, but he was the only living master of Vaapad at the time of Episode III, the seventh form of lightsaber combat. Named after a predator that attacks its prey with blindingly fast tentacles, Vaapad is aggressive and powerful, but it's power comes at great risk.

Immersion in Vaapad opens the gates that restrains ones inner darkness. To use Vaapad, a Jedi allow himself to enjoy the fight; he must give himself over to the thrill of battle. Vaapad is a path that leads through the shadow of the dark side. Vaapad is a channel to the dark side.

Mace Windu was not afraid to give himself over to the thrill of combat when using the lightsaber. This made him one of the most dangerous and powerful lightsaber duelists. However, we see were passion led Anakin Skywalker. Mace Windu may have eventually been seduced by the dark side if he had not been killed by Darth Sidious.

Mace should have been mindful of his initial feelings about the "Chosen One" and not have underestimated the powers of the future Emperor. Mace Windu's arrogance blinded him.

Mace Windu was a Sith his name was Darth Angryblackman!!! He had 2 Kyber Crystals in his hilt one blue and his true crystal color red hence purple. Mace knew that he would have to sacrifice himself for the "The Chosen One" to turn. And, the rest is history Long Live the Sith Down with the Rens!

One of the many reasons WHY I have a problem with those movies. The Jedi can sense things from planet systems away yet they can't sense that their worst enemy is living right next door to them? WTF? And don't give me that crap about the dark side clouding everything. Once the dark side started doing that the Jedi should have known something was up. Two thoughts on the Palpatine vs. Mace battle is either Mace was just too much of a badazz, or Palps was playing possum for Ani to come in and save him. Whatever. And how easy was it to wipe out all the Jedi at the temple? Was NOBODY looking out the window going "Hey... there's Anakin. With a large force of very armed and armored soldiers coming towards us... looking ready to open up a can of whoop azz on somebody. Uh, guys... we might wanna sound the alarm or something." The fight between Dooku and Yoda should have been Anakin's fight if he's supposedly the Chosen One and supposedly oh so great at fighting and really strong with the force. And why did Darth Maul die in such a punk azz way? They make this Sith warrior to be such a bad azz, deadly fighter and faster than anyone else. He kills Master Qui-Gon and pushed Obi Won over the ledge, yet he just stands there, not moving, and lets Obi Won jump up into the air, flip over him, land cat-like on his feet and TK grab Jin's lightsaber and slice Maul in half? WTF!? Did that make ANY sense to anybody? I can just imagine the conversation at the board meeting with all the writers and execs. They all turned to George Lucas and said: "Hey, George, I think we made this Maul guy WAY too tough. How is Obi Won gonna beat him?" And George goes, "I know. I know. We'll just have Obi Won jump up and slice him in half with Qui-Gon's sword." The other people just look at George with these blank faces and say, "But, George, that doesn't make any sense..." And George says, "Exactly! It doesn't make ANY sense. That's why it'll work!" Those movies make absolutely no sense in terms of consistency in fighting, and even less in plot. The plot holes are so huge you can fly the entire Imperial Fleet and both Death Stars through. Edit: And you can thumbs down me all you want but it only goes to show that "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!"
