Many methods available lets start with the simplist first
Sperm Donor, artificial insemination, there are also pills available to promote ovulation to increase the odds of conception
And lastly there is adoption- dont ever rule adoption out as a possiblity. There are many children that are looking for a loving home!

What you need to do, is find out when you are due to ovualte, this is usually 14 days before your next period, so if u have a regualr cycle this should be easy. If not buy some cheap ovualtion test sticks off ebay! Sperm can live for up to 4 days before the egg is released, they lie in wait! Because of the low sperm count issue, try not to over do it, plan the 'sessions' to maximise your chances. Sex every other day as opposed to evry day helps the count to rebuild and get maximum strength! If you know u r due to ovulate try sex every other day for a week from 2 days before ovulation, this should help. Go to www.askdramy.com to help you calculate when u r due to ovulate and also to show you more tips on how to check if you are ovulating, such as the position of the cervix and cervical mucus consistencies etc!

Well if he can't imporve his sperm count naturally you could try IUI or IVF.

My BF had this problem. He had two tests which indicated 13 mill sperm per ml, which is under the "average" of 20 mill/ml required to be considered "normal".

We were not sure what caused it, it could have been testicular surgery he had as a kid.

But then out of the blue he produced a sample of 26 mill which was just above "normal".

We were told that with his count as low as it was we'd need IVF, but then I got pregnant naturally!

There are all sorts of health-freak tales about certain foods and vitamins improving sperm count. As my BF is a junk food addict I never really got him to try any of these ideas and like I said I then managed to get pg anyway, but if your man is more amenable to try healthy eating/taking vits etc he could always give it a go. Not sure if it works or is just hippy-chic, but some people say they've had success after "changing their diets" or taking supplements.

Theres a writer called Zita West who whas written several books on improving fertility. Her ideas tend to be based on chinese medicine and are a bit too extreme for my BF to attempt - ie "cutting out" whole categories of food and living on broccoli etc and miso soup. But some people say they have had success with her methods.

To be honest I think this sort of thing just causes more stress - you are worrying so much about what you eat, what you shouldn't have eaten blah blah and worry is detrimental to fertility.

They also say you should abstain from sex to "save" the sperm up for a few days before having sex so that there is the highest concentration possible. And try to have sex as close as possible to the day you ovulate. You can find this out with the fertility awareness methods - I'd advise getting hold of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler which tells you all you need to know to monitor your most fertile days.

Russ - sorry but what planet are you on? Do you know ANYTHING about fertility problems???

Sperm Donor? She wants her boyfriend's child not someone else!!! And as for adoption - thats a last resort when you know there is no chance of having your own kids. We all want our own kid first before we think about adopting someone elses!

People really are so ignorant about feritlity problems.

Yes if not married they are still referred to as boy or girl friends dope. Not you luv but the idiot at the top, lol.

It would depend on just how low his count is. You could try putting a pillow under your hips before sex and staying that way for at least 30 minutes after. Also to increase fertiity you (woman) can try eating carrots (raw) and taking a spoonful of robitussin every day. Sounds silly I know but it has worked for others that I have suggested it too.

Good luck!

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating. Anyway this is a great method to get pregnant: https://tr.im/aAqBF
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant
