consider u took a red sock first
now second time u took any color out,
after third chance u will surely have one pair as there are only 2 kinds of socks.
if first is red, second is blue, third is either red or blue will give u a matching pair!!
so minimum number is 3.

Three—after you have one and you get another, you have a pair which may or may not match, but when you pull out the third, it is guaranteed that it will match either the first or second sock, and you will have a matching pair.

23
Because you have to consider the worst case scenario:
You pull all 22 blue socks first, only then are you guaranteed to get a red one.
