It's very difficult to tell whether the robins you see
in fall and winter are the same ones that were there
in spring and summer or not. Some birds retreat
to cooler and moister places during the hottest
part of the summer and spread out into warmer
areas when things cool down a bit. Others just
become more inactive and harder to spot during
the hot weather. They may still be around, but
aren't seen.
As another person points out the local ones you
saw earlier may have been replaced by migrants
from further north. Many robins spend the winter
in the southern U.S. As far north as northeastern
Ohio (at least) there are always at least a few
robins around all winter. Whether these are ones
that were present in summer or migrants from
Canada who knows? If they haven't been banded
or marked in some way so they can be recognized
there's no way to tell for sure.

My best guess is that you're actually seeing different groups of robins at different times of year. Robins have quite a large range, so your spring and summer resident robins may head south in late summer, then more northerly residents fly south to your area. I was surprised to learn this myself as I noticed robins in the dead of winter in the Northeast USA. Apparently they come down from Canada, where it's even colder and more barren!
