ur ? is what I should do ; i can say what I did.
I was tought to be strong in grammar. Once I found my strength
I was confident of writing, speaking and listening
without grammar how will I write, without grammar how can u identify good and bad english.
Foundation of any language is GRAMMAR ofcourse
This ? can be frammed as "what SHOULD you do to learn English well" u missed "should" - verb between what and you. "should" gives meaning to the sentence that is grammar. One can understand the trash english people are writing but sometimes as vague as u wrote. I can ask u - why do u want to bother how I have to learn English well. So if you want to learn simple English well : You should have written explicitly "How do I learn English well" not "for example" but instance u can use "for instance" , example is a similarity/ Instance is a "single occurrence or happening of a given kind". Hope u understand,
If u r in chennai, I teach English to lower middle income group. Free. U can contact me.

The best way to learn to speak any language well is to live in a country where that language is spoken, mix with the locals as much as possible, overcome fear of ridicule as soon as possible, most people appreciate the efforts of someone at least trying to communicate in their language. The for the writing and grammar enrol in a an academy or school or alternatively buy a good text book and learn yourself. If living there is not possible a native teacher is your next bet plus watching films in the language of your choice, TV, etc.
All of the above works I promise! I know from personal experience.

First of all, you have add few more details about your question... what you want to learn... READ, WRITE or SPEAK...
But I am going to give a suggestion to you, which will help you. Arrang few books, news papers, or magazines etc of your own interested topics then read them a lot. Secondly, use english as written language where ever is possible, like when you are submitting a application or writting a letter don't use your own language, use English as written english.
Third very huge idea.... every human thinks a lot in 24 hours a day... and talk to him or her self in his or her mind. When you are thinking something all this happen in full silence... no one listen what you are thinking in your mind... You must think all that in English Language... I mean when ever you are making some plans etc in your mind use english as languge. while talking to your self.... and last one... talk & speak in english in routine or use most of english words in your routine conversation & speaches etc...

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

First you have to get the basics, like a foundation in grammar and vocabulary, then I'd advise to start reading, may be with children's books, and listening to radio and television.
But in my opinion you can't learn any language really well without getting lots and lots of practice talking to native speakers, which, of course is best possible by living for a time in their respective countries.

1. Do not listen to the English pretending they know how to speak English they have corrupted their own language.
2. You can buy English CDs from PC world these teach you how to speak English.
3. Listen to national Geographic channel on sky TV its very educational.
3. BBC news is good record what they say and try and say it and check the meaning of words in an Oxford dictionary.
4. Read newspapers, join your local council library and read as many books as you can where you a not sure ask for help. Joining the library is free.
5. Use English for all your communication needs.
6. Start your own blog and write as much as you can tell us about yourself your country what you think about London, what you like or hate about your job. We will read it and because you know that we will read it you will try and minimise your mistakes.
7. If you write something check for spelling and grammer mistakes. If you use microsoft word your computer can do this for you, but rember to set your computer to English UK. If you do not know how to do this ask someone at work to show you how to set up your computer and how to use it to check for mistakes. It is the best teacher for teaching you how to write.
8. Read what i write i always try and write relatively acceptable English.
9. Do not swear or use four letter words. One four latter word is equivalent to a paragraph. If someone does something bad to you express you feelings in simple English instead of swearing. If you are not happy about something use English terms to vent out your fury you will be suprised how much you will learn. Good luck.

As a starter, you might read the questions on "Answers" and then avoid writing as they do - a large number of the writers appear to be illiterate! Work out what is wrong and then try to correct it. You might also have some fun whilst you are doing it!
