nope, id say you're pretty normal. while i never thought about it until you asked this question - i do the same thing. it's often becuase somewhere in the back of my brain i think - why didn't they understand that - and i have tp change the asnwer to try to make it more clear. unless i'm upstairs and they are in the basement - then i just shout louder and shorten the phrase/sentence ; )

If you're a visitor in a foreign country, you repeat what you said using different words because the original words may not have been understood...If you're talking to an older person, you may repeat yourself because the person is hard of hearing, and you may change your words or the sentence construction...If you're a teacher and a student asks you to repeat, you may change the construction, the voice, the words, and so on to help make yourself understood...Just about everything we say can be said in a variety of different ways, so if one way doesn't work, try another. It would be boring to say the exact same thing over and over. In addition, we are trying to communicate meaning through words, we're not trying to communicate words, so changing the words to say the "same" thing is a perfectly natural thing to do.
Now, in the case of the examples you gave, it seems that you are saying the same thing, but with a little more detail the second time. The first time, you just say you're going to the store. A listener could think: How? By foot, by bicycle, in a car, in the big car, the small car? So the second statement added the detail--driving (not just going). A listener might think: well, he's driving to the store, I wonder which car he'll take? The Ferrari, the Ford, or the RV?

I do too.I think it means that that we don't like repeating ourselves so as not to be boring on the fist hand, and in the second hand we think our utterance twice and we paraphrase because we maybe wish to be more understandable. When sb asks u to say the same thing twice it means that he either didn't hear or didn't understand... I'm from Greece and I think that this is universal. By the way, do u know where Greece is or did we make the Olympics on futile???

I think it depends on the tone of voice from the questioner. Like if you said I am going to the store and the questioner says "What?!?" in a harsh tone, like they are questioning your actions, then you may feel compelled to adjust your original statement in defense of your future actions. If they say "What?" in a normal questioning tone, like they did not hear you, then you might embellish just because you had more time to think about it. I don't think it means anything special, because our brains are constantly working, the second time you say something, you have had time to reformulate the details of what you are trying to say and perhaps have come up with a more acurate statement, or one with more details.

I don't think it's just you. I've seen a lot of people do that. I do it myself. I think maybe it's because we assume people didn't understand us, so we slightly change the wording. We somehow don't think people didn't hear us.
