I've always been interested in Earth Sciences, namely geography and geology. But in my school the geography elective was abolished coz i was the only one who signed up, and so i ditched the dream. for then.
I went on to University to get a degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in telecommunications.I did manage to barely scrape through and get my degree. My final 2 years in uni, I was haunted by the idea that geology was really my calling, but i had to complete the engineering degree just for the sake of not wanting to waste the past 4 years in my life.
Now that i've got the degree, I'm actually considering a 2nd degree in geology. My main obstacle now is the lack of funds to pursue the course, as no scholarships r offered to those already w a 1st degree.Shld i just put up with what i have and live my life as an electrical engineer, or pursue my dreams for a career in geology? would it be a total waste of time to do geology?or doing smthing i hate for the rest of my life?

Go to work for a company that uses both EEs and Geologists (oil exploration companies come to mind). While doing EE work, have them help you earn a masters in Geology.

Since you lack the funds, you should keep working as an Elec Eng but at the same time keep an eye out for Earth Science jobs. Though some jobs specifically want you to have a degree, there are many that would accept you coz you have an Elec Eng degree which is more difficult to obtain.

However if you still wish to pursue a geo degree, you could study the very minimal load (like taking one subject per semester or whatever the faculty permits) and keep your full time job to pay it off. But do check the timetabling for that unit. (does it clash with your working hours? is it possible to do the unit externally? is it possible to negotiate with the faculty of an alternate timetabling?)

Take heart! Don't dismay. There's always a way. Coz pursuing your passion will lead to a fulfilling life:)

You should totally go for geology, whatever it takes.
Maybe you should work as an engineer for a bit to make some money for university.
Don't feel like you're wasting years, it's your life, you're just using it this way. It's good anyway that you have one diploma already, and you will only benefit from having a second one.
So go for your dreams! You don't want to live all your life looking back and regretting not even trying geology again. At least give it a try please! Good luck! :)

electrical eng. should pay well. work hard. save $ and keep your interest in geo. and dont stop looking 4 scholarships. if thats what u really want, get a loan. why should you do something u hate 4 the rest of your life when older people make plans for a career change everyday. most start by going back to school.

are you married? if not, you can do whatever you want. you have a degree, put it to use making money and save as much as you can, live simply. then go back to school and go for what you really want to do, there's nothing stopping you. you can't be happy doing something you hate, a job you love is worth the lower salary. I say go for it!

You will probably hate electric engineer, get a loan, and do it, if it is your dream there isn't anything that you shouldn't do to achive it.
