Your porch is probably a humid area, so it if quite likely that the spots are mildew. If it is actually mildew on the shades, you need to kill the mildew. Simple washing will not do that.

First take them outside and brush off as much of the loose stain as you can. Then you will need to use something with bleach in it. Test a small section first to see it they are "bleach safe". Then I'd try any spray on cleaner with bleach. You may need to use a small brush to scrub some spots. Let it sit for a while. Then wash with soapy water and rinse with clear water. Then let the shades dry in strong sunlight until they are totally dry.

These sites will give you more information about dealing with a mildew problem. I hope this helps.

Could be either mold or mildew, but most likely mildew. Spray the plastic curtain with bleach to immediately get rid of the spots, then keep it sprayed with a shower cleaner once a week. There are several products on the market right now that you can actually spray in your shower after you bathe that will clean a dirty shower or keep a clean shower clean. Try your local box store's cleaning aisle! Good Luck!

To clean bamboo shades use a few drops of dish detergent in 4 liters of hot water. Take down the shade and scrub both sides with a thick terry towel. Use a clean dry terry towel to wipe it dry once it is clean. If you are unable to remove the shade, hold the terry towel behind the part of the shade you are scrubbing to avoid having the bamboo break. Allow to air dry.
