Just to determine if one exists look. You'll see normally 3 holes either up where you plug in the keyboard/mouse or down in the expansion slots. It can have as many as 5 and might also have midi ports and other such ports as well. One version of Sound Blaster actually sits up by your CDroms. Sound cards, Modems and other devices will have square or oblong connectors. Sound cards are the only common card that has small 1/8 inch holes except for TV tuner cards. A TV tuner card will have a Audio jacks and a monitor output as well as the audio jacks so it's easy to tell the difference.
To figure out what kind of sound card it depends on your OS. In both cases you go to system tools and devices and click on sound card. Getting to system tools varies by OS version/distro and it's really not in the scope of this answer to explain how under every Linux and Windoze version/distro. Just explore a little, try to find your control panel. Often devices are tucked in your control panel.
