let me explain, technically a pound of feathers is 2 ounces heavier than a pound of Gold, because Gold and precious metals are always weighed in Troy weight and a troy pound has only 14 ounces, everything else is weighed in normal weights and measures, whih has 16 ounces to the pound.

look closer, the ounces in avoirdupois and troy differ. I'm pretty sure the troy ounce is heavier than the avoirdupois ounce. It might turn out that the pounds are the same after all.
