But quantum physics tells us that if there is no one there to "hear" it, then there is also no one there to "see" it or otherwise affirm the event. So if there is no one there to see or hear it, does the tree really fall?

Once you have assumed that the tree falls, then the matter of sound becomes trivial. The real question concerns whether a thing can happen at all if there is no one there to observe it.

Does it affect the environment? A tree falls, a squirrel scampers away, a bobcat bounds after it, the squirrel shoots onto the hiway, a driver swerves to miss it, hits a tree and makes it fall in the forest. It makes a noise.
Does a human have to experience everything that happens to validate it? I think not.

Metaphorically speaking any tree (human being) that falls will make a noise but if anyone in that forest hears is a different matter.

yes it will definitely make a noise for the fact that no one is available to hear it does not mean it did not make a noise. A light object like a paper makes a noise how much more a tree.

I once thought id try an experiment similar in nature to this once, I was in a resteraunt one evening and felt bloated and i pondered if one farts in an empty resteraunt and no one was there to hear it, would it really make a noise?
the answer was yes it made a noise, theres ALWAYS someone around....it was kinda stinky too............

Yes, any large object crashing to the ground will make a noise and disturb something or someone!

If a noise is something that the ear percives, and there is no one there to hear that, then a noise isnt made.
