Where were you and what were you doing on the morning of September 11, 2001?

Standing 2 1/2 blocks away from the WTC, staring up, looking at the ball of fire in the first tower. Frozen. Paralyzed....watching charred fax papers drift down gently on the breeze. I heard the 2nd plane approaching and ran. Couldn't go home for about a week because I lived 4 blocks away....had to stay in a hotel and with friends. It was a nightmare.

Reading the paper and listening to the radio in Chicago. I was scheduled to leave O'Hare Airport early that afternoon enroute to Australia. My friend was to meet me in LA and we were to travel together. Funny thing was that he told me there was a 99.99 chance that he could meet me unless some business came up. I thought of Michael Jordan saying 99.99 chance he wouldn't return to basketball after retiring. We wound up going two days later though it really changed the trip as I wound up watching CNN and couldn't help wondering and worrying what would be next. It was a surreal time to say the least.

I was teaching in my classroom in Providence, RI showing the last hour of A&E biography of the 10 most important people of the last thosand years in part of the how the print press had moved American society away from the wars of religious intolerance - but explaining to them it still existed with some people - I know pretty ironic huh?

I was still in bed as it was about 7:30 am here in BC. My daughter phoned and told me to turn on the TV to see what was happening. That was right when the second plane hit. It was surreal and very hard to believe.

Watching tv after getting home from my 3rd shift job. I was flipping through channels when I came upon the live feed after the 1st tower was hit.
