I'm looking for Indian tribes in the southwest Illinios (close to st. louis--think litchfeild area) I was told there was a Nomadic tribe but that just means that it's a type of tribe that moves around. I need any information on any tribes in there area. Preferably ones from way far back (somebody said somthing about way in BC times) Any information is better than what I have thanks!!

To go along with the first answer there was the Illinois tribe and Shawnees moved into that area after being pushed west by White settlers and the larger Indian tribes. Also believe that the Osage Indians roamed thru there frequently

The Potowatomi Indians lived in the northern part there. They were a peaceful, creative sort. Basket weavers, art, dance and song. a rich culture.
