A pound of feathers weighs more. One pound of gold is measured in 12 ounces, while a pound of feathers would be measured at 16 ounces.

If the gold is in orbit it therefore has no weight (a pound is a unit of mass) and so the feathers weighs more. On the other hand if the feathers are in orbit . . .
anyway you get the point.

Current price of gold is 611.00 USD/oz or 327.5 GB pounds
1 troy ounce is equal to 31103 milligrams
So 1 pound of gold equals about 95 milligrams (31105 / 327.5)
I would assume that you could buy more than 100 milligrams of feathers for a pound.
The feathers weigh more.

well on surface the answer is both are equal, since both are of same weight.
But - if logically then feathers will carry more weight if they are in the HAT. it means one wearing that hat will carry much more responsibility than a person having a pound of gold.
getting it?
Think.

well.. with all due respect all u people are wrong..
if u ask this question to a kid then may be u r right because of its obviousness but the actual answer is----
a pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold !!
EXPLANATION: this is because the value of a pound differs marginally with respect to the volume or mass of the substance, and feather being lighter than gold will have more visible mass than gold & wud acquire more space than that of gold. hence one pound of feather wud marginally but definitely be heavier than that of gold.

um, actually there are of the same weight because they are both in pound unit. But if their physical structure is to be considered, I think I will say too that gold is heavier

That's a pretty poor example of a trick question. A better one would be, "How much does the Earth weigh?"

same..
because they are both a pound...
it doesnt matter which looks bigger or looks weighed higher, coz you know some may think that the diamond weighs more..
come to think of it.. they are both a pound so.. they weigh the same right?
