Basically, injuries and fatigue. He had played two marathon matches leading up to that one. That combined with the bad back really spelled the end for Agassi. It's a shame he didn't get to face Roddick, but anytime a players is taking shots of pain medication just to be able to play, things don't look good. Especially when the same player is exhausted too.

Well I think as the match moved on it was becoming more evident he wasn't at 100%. His movement speed was not the usual Agassi and he seemed to be getting fatigued. He hadn't played in a while before the US Open so it wasn't surprising to see his conditioning wasn't really there.
