What are the teenagers interests? Find a theme and focus on that. Speak to the teenager and see what they like. I found some great tips here.

Go for plain walls and then get some funky bedding and curtains, this way if the teenager wants a change all you will need is to change the furnishings and not the room colour.

You should better ask them. Some teenagers prefer a more childish room, with posters, hearts and things like those.
Others prefer more sophisticated and elegant decorations.

Start with bedding. Have the teen pick out a comforter/sheet set and from there get matching window treatments. Pick a color from the set and do accent walls. JC Penney has bed in a bag sets and many of them have the matching window coverings as well as rugs, lamps etc.

well i have a kinda cold bedroom. u know with blue, a bit of pink and purple. so i have more of a flower type room and it fits my personality.
