If it is a choice, then there should be no war at all. However, the ground realities suggests that the war on terror will end up in a war. Some people are of the opinion that the third war has already started, US against the muslim world. Every single person killed in Iraq and Afghanistan push his or her entire family into reactionary group. There are far many people ready to kill or to be killed today than ever before. Full marks to the US war in Afghanistan which proved to be the training place for all experts in war tactics. The US war against past US policies.

In Vietnam, we learned that to fight a single guerilla, it would take a couple of hundred men to find and remove him...but a single terrorist can effective destroy a lot of people. We do not have the resolve to continue another war of atrition and so such a thought becomes pointless. We left Vietnam after 20 years, having lost 54,000 men and accomplished nothing...so WWIII would be better? We are dealing with men used to the brutal conditions of the Middle East, and confronting them with young men used to driving cars and eating at McDonalds. It is time to think about righting wrongs to stop the needs of terrorism instead of escalating them. Where would the war lead....to involve Russia, China, India, etc....we are talking about billions of people. Sorry, my answer is a firm no.

I think WWII was the last traditional war the world will see. The war that followed, the cold war, was entirely different. As mentioned by someone else above, Vietnam proved we cannot fight a war with arms against an ideology. The war against Islamofacism cannot be won with the sword. We may have to simply wait for the ideology to collapse on itself, as did the Soviet Union. In the meantime, we will have to protect ourselves as need be.

An all out war , is the thing of the past ! People who consider it, or advocate it are just cowboys !
it is like ignoring and abusing your body, and when you fall ill, consider open surgery !
Terrorism, is not going to go away, it is an ideology ! A terrorist , resorts to terrorism:
1- either to get something, he wouldn't normally get
2- or he can not fight a traditional fight, with a bigger adversary, and terrorism is his only option.
although recently a new tactic has been borne ( quite successfully), and that is through terrorist attacks on the populace, they draw attention to an atrocity, which is happening far away, that nobody knows or cares !
How can you wage a traditional war on somebody who kills himself first! for an ideology ..........

Only if ALL people, of whatever age or gender, who advocate such a war will agree to spend the duration of the war in combat on the front line.

I believe that a draft is coming back to this country. That the draft should be gender nuetral and should apply to all residents ages 40 to 60.

It may be the end of more than terrorism.

Albert Einstein once said:
"I know not with what weapons WW III will be fought, but WW IV will be fought with sticks and stones".
