It is when you leave this earthly life and your body and spirit depart from one another and you move on to an eternal life, free from pain and suffering and are reunited with your loved ones who have gone before.

simple: end of life... yet itis not so simple to live with this answer... The question is deeply philosophical, and i doubt it could be answered in one or two words, but on thing you always find is that death is a constant thought in one's mind, it exists as if always, as if from the very beginning and somehow it guide us through reality... because we cannot help asking this question and what is worse we cannot help finding an answer... death is the end of life but what is life!? There are people whose life seem to have ended much before their phisical existence (like in Shakespeare's Hamlet). One may have died without knowing it! See, our idea of death is not someone else's idea.
So my final answer is Death is our idea of the end of life, without which our life would not have had any meaning... We have the idea of death for it is what makes possible the idea of life...
(an eternal existenece, i.e. deathless, immortal one, could never make one find meaning in it!)

It is the discontinuance of the spirit of life within the cellular structure, whether it be human, lower form animal, insect, plant, etc. This includes the death of the soul, which according to the Bible is the blood.

It's where your earthly body dies and we pass into another life. I believe we take the love inside us when we go.
All the love you created and all the memories are still there, so you can die without ever really going away because you live on in the hearts and minds of people that you have touched.

When you don't wake up anymore? when you don't feel pain anymore, when your suffering has stopped? I don't know I am still living and I don't know anyone who has died that has come back to tell me.
