WE NEED TO KNOW WHY YOU SPLIT UP?? IS YOUR PARTNER WORTH IT FOR YOU TO GO BACK TO HIM/HER? DID YOU FEEL LIKE YOU TOTALLY WASTED 14 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE?? DID THE GOOD OUT WEIGH THE BAD?? DID THIS PERSON MAKE YOU HAPPY?? THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF. WE CAN NOT MAKE THAT DECISION FOR YOU. ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT TRULY WENT ON BETWEEN YOU TWO. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE UNHAPPY. IF THIS PERSON MADE YOU HAPPY THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT GOING BACK. I KNOW BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP THAT LONG IS HARD. WHERE DO YOU MOVE? WHAT DO YOU DO? IT'S A REALLY HARD SITUATION. BUT THE IMPORTANT THING HERE IS "YOU". WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO JUST KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE OK IN THE END. GOOD LUCK

Been in your shoes. After 14 yrs. I too split from my partner. We both were at fault in our own ways-No abuse! We just started drifting apart with a child caught in the middle. I left for a few months but was in constant contact with my ex. Over Christmas my ex. and son came to visit for a week and we decided to try again and I went back home. In my case, It was a one sided try to iron out differences. I did everything I could to make it work while my ex. just graded me on it (so to speak). After only 2 wks. my ex informed me it wasn't going to work. So at my age of 61 I am in a new state and trying to start over and miss my son like hell. I am still in touch with ex. (every day) and we are friends but that's as far as it goes. My ex is already dating. I won't try to rekindle our relationship again-too much heart break.
But! That is only my experience and yours could very well be different, and most likely be so.
We all must make up are own minds on that one. It may or may not be worth it. Only you can answer that question.

You can either dwell in the past, or move on & do what you can do to make each day happier than the one before it. I would move on. It's the only way to find the joy & happiness that's waiting for you in the future.

it would depend on the reason for the split ... if the relationship was abusive, going back is self-defeating. if the relationship was good, then why did you split? tell us the reason

its always great to try to fix the problem...you were together for so long and theres a reason for that.
but it really depends on what the issues were that brought the two of you to split
good luck

it depends with the reason of your break up and how both of you try to fix it.. if the feelings are still mutual then go back, you know what you shared together, if you can still imagine of you together.. go for whatever that makes you happy..

14 years is a long time, I would rather give it another try if you could be with someone for 14 years then you could be with that somone for life.

if you still like to have sex with him, kissing and hugging them it worth a shoot, otherwise keep him as a very close friend and move on your life.it may be a bit lonely at the beginning, you will get use of it.

if you love somebody let them go, if they come back, it is love. but remember why you two split up, that will answer your question.
