Maybe you could try saying hi to them first or smiling at other people sometimes that helps?
IF they don't say hi back then they are definitely being rude.
One of the things i have realised 10 years after school is that if someone is rude to you for no reason the problem is not you it is them.
There is just no reason for rudeness in this situation and they are just demonstrating their ignorance.
Make friends with people who do say hi.
Don't let the others get you down.
Good luck

:Your avatar has a cigarette- maybe that's the reason. Smoking is a really filthy, horrible habit. Just a suggestion: be very friendly to them! If you are open to LISTENING to people instead of focusing on what YOU want to say, people ENJOY being able to talk about themselves! (your question might be better phrased this way: Why is it that nobody says hi to me in my health and math classes?)

As long as you don't smell and you act pleasant you shouldn't have a problem.
If your good at the subject people will eventually say hi to you (cuz they know they might need your help). If your not, I'd say start introducing yourself to others... especially the ones that take good notes.

Maybe you should try making the first step and talk to them. Many times we hesitate talking to people we don't know. A warm smile, a few words can break the ice. Just be yourself, smile, socialize a little bit and everything will be fine. Let me know how it goes :)

Probably that since the decline of the traditional "how do you do" the English ability to get over the awkward start to conversations has gone quickly downhill.

do you say hi to them?
do you catch anyone's eye, and give a smile, or a nod?
does anyone pay attention to you when in these classes?
Look (not stare) at people, smile, look away...
