While it is true that the truth will set you free, it is also sometimes true that a lie will get you out!
Children learn the skill early as a personal behavourial modification, then improve if not checked by observing others.
There is a high success rate for those whom tell lies. business, politics, & law are good examples.
Religious dogmas are often confused with the truth of the religion. The lies within the dogma are believed more than the truth within the religion.

History is not written by the victims, but the victors. They write their own lies. There is great economic advantages to lying.
We warn children not to lie because that a liar can cheat, steal, and kill, for the reason that the lie might protect the liar.
"Might is Right" makes the lie even more credable. The mighty can lie to or on the less powerful.

It is necessary for our survival.
But seriously, lies are about self-preservation. We do something wrong but we don't want people to know so we lie. All of us have lied at least once in our life, no matter how big or small. If we always told the truth there would be a lot of sad and hurt people because sometimes lying can protect both the liar and the person being lied to.

Because we are ashamed or embarrased by the truth. We fear the truth may hurt others. We fear the truth will cause us to get punished. We don't know the truth. We are compulsive liars. We lie to impress people. I usually lie while I am sleeping but I've been known to sleep while standing too. There are many reasons why people lie. Lying has never solved anything though. Sometimes I think of a lie to tell my husband. I practice it over and over and even repeat it but when He asks I tell the truth before I realize what i've done. A lot of women say "What they don't know won't hurt them but a lot of wonen use anti aging or age defying products. I don't think they would have as many wrinkles if they weren't stressed out from keeping track of their lies. One thing thst never changes is the facts

we have to there is no getting around it. if you told someone out right that they were the uglylist person you have ever saw bc they ask you how they looked how would you think that would make them feel. Most people lie so we dont hurt other peoples feelings. Plus we are born to lie our parents teach us that it is wrong to lie.

We are afraid of punishment or we're afraid of rejection and anger from that person...the punishment will be greater if the truth isn't told immediately
