The BIble presents some pretty convincing evidence to support the idead that the soul pre-exists before the advent of conception - it says something like - "I knew you before the foundations of the world" meaning that even before the rest of reality came into being the soul existed. it might be said that the soul's immortal nature is due to the fact that it really isn't a part of this world but a part of the pre-existing infinite reality.

If there wasn't life before death, then death couldn't exsist because you wouldn't be living so you couldn't die.

Years ago I read a couple of books on 'the evidence of 'Life BEFORE Life,' as to whether people really experienced 'earlier lives to this one.'
It depends on how you want to read the evidence as to whether you wanted to believe it, or not.
