I'm sorry kiddo, but it's not a good idea to keep one that is already adapted to the wild. They have gotten used to eating live insects, and if you put him/her in a place where they can't catch their own food, they will die. If you got one that was a baby and raised him/her from just a tiny toad it might survive, but they usually don't make good pets. They are cute, and a cool little thing, but they are much better off if you just watch him hang out. I have one that has lived under my steps for several years now, but I never see him in the winter. I'm not sure where he goes, or if he goes deep into the earth and sleeps like a bear, but he is back in the springtime. He has gotten so big! He has been here 5 or 6 years now. It's best not to bother them, and they will get used to you seeing them, and won't run away when you are there. Have you saw a toad catch a fly to eat? That is so cool! Good Luck!

Well as the act of 1968 you no longer can keep garden toads as pets because too many people where dying of a rare disease called "semitransmitfever." If you get caught with one you have to pay a fine. And it never comes off your record.

The toad is a wild amphibian. Let it live it's life free. Toads don't live long in captivity.

I have had a toad as a pet, Gorge was his name... but it was a small one, so i kept it in a special terrarium...
I guess yours won't need much special cares... It can feed on its own... Yet, these animals cannot be exactly pets... see, you cannot hug it and expect it bring you a stick...
So, in my opinion, enjoy it as a living creature in your garden... just as birds and butterflies...
I have heard it brings good luck and fortune... ;-)

u can encourage it to remain in ure garden in nautural habitat, but u must not cage it as a pet,..this would be cruel and sure enough it would die,..its obviously very happy the way things are to keep returning year after year
