this prob could be of operating system installed on ur systems. Sm times Windows XP don't allow other users to log on that particular system. (Bt unfourtunatly even i don't know what to do.) U can try to access from other comp to this one.
If u r not using Win XP then u can check for sharing option, U must have a one shared folder on the computer u r tryin to access, Else u can do Vis-versa. u can share the folder on other comp and try to access from other comp.
If U r using Win 98 then go to network Properties chek whether u have opted for file sharing and printing. Then only u can share a folder on that comp.
Must be using right cable, hub or switch.

some sturdy recommendations above. additionally, i like first of all some basic issues to boot. have you ever rebooted all units? merely have the desire to make constructive. i've got considered the place some on the spot routers choose this periodically. How are you "connecting to the community" in case you won't have the ability to hook up with the on the spot gadget? you will desire to purchase new on the spot card for computer - if that fixes it than you be attentive to the place your problem substitute into, if it does no longer, return it (ensure you verify the shops "re-stocking" fee agreements, return coverage, and so on.). Or, attempt to borrow from a chum or different computer in case you have yet another card. As reported above, attempt to narrow down what isn't working.

Probaly a permissions problem. If you can ping the other computer, it is not the network.
You need to enable sharing and give permission to use the files you want to get to.
