I think the best thing to do is keep an open mind. That way it doesn't annoy you in anyway when you get silly answers. They may even make you laugh.

I agree although it is not always meant . I said something in an answer earlier that really upset the questioner and I am mortified.
It is a minefield trying to work out if the questioner is really wanting a serious answer or just indulging their inner child!
I have taken time to think out serious answers only to realise too late that the question was poking fun of people.
There are a few people out here who just want to get a rise from people , but most people are genuinely helpful.
Laugh it off , is the best advice I can give you!

Margaret, I noticed the same thing when I first came on here -- and these people are found in just about every forum. Sometimes they just want the two points for answering the question; other times their nasty answers are a reflection of their inability to answer the question intelligently. One of the worst kinds of answers I've ever received was "Why would you ever ask a question like that?" It's like these people want the two points badly but then they answer with something that would never get them the ten extra points for a best answer.
Ignore these people who do that. I have found that the vast majority of the people who answer do so at the best of their ability.

You've only asked three questions here and this was one of them. As far as I can see you got reasonable answers to the other 2, except for one person who blew it off. Sure, there's a lot of sarcasm and rudeness here, as in any forum, but you don't seem to have been one of the targets. I really don't see that you have anything to complain about.

You are so right, it`s amazing (present company excepted) the number of nerdy people who`s only connection to the outside world is through a computer screen, and who obviously get some sort of excitement out of being puerile.

Yep. but remember some folk just want a quick 2 points and will say anything as short and obnoxious as they can. they dont know you and dont care who they hurt.
